Chernarussian Aerospace Forces (CASF)
Headquarters: Severograd Air Command, North Zagoria
Command Language: Russian
Primary Role: Air dominance, strike operations, airborne ISR, and strategic airlift
Overview
The Chernarussian Aerospace Forces (CASF) serve as the aerial warfare and strategic mobility branch of the CDF. Modeled after Russian Aerospace doctrine, CASF is responsible for fixed-wing and rotary aviation, as well as aerospace support missions such as deep reconnaissance, battlefield interdiction, and close air support to CAF ground operations.
CASF’s doctrine emphasizes airspace control, interdiction, and integrated strike packages, often paired with EW and CTADF elements to suppress or deny enemy air superiority.
Organizational Structure
Command Element | Role |
---|---|
Combat Aviation Regiments | Su-25, MiG-29 platforms for CAS and interception |
Rotary Aviation Brigades | Mi-8, Mi-24, Ka-52 (limited) for lift and gunship support |
ISR / ELINT Squadron | AR-2 UAVs, AN-series recon airframes |
Airlift & Transport Wing | Il-76 (shared or leased) for logistics |
Aircrew & Maintenance Command | Flight training, maintenance, ground support |
Notable Capabilities
Fixed-Wing Assets:
- Su-25SM – CAS and battlefield strike
- MiG-29 – Multi-role interception and air defense
- Su-24 Fencer – Tactical Bomber
- Tu-22M Backfire – Long-Range Strategic Bomber
- A-50 Mainstay – Airborne Early Warning and Control
Rotary-Wing Assets:
- Mi-24P/V – Gunship and troop insertion
- Mi-8MTV – Utility, Transport, and Support
- Mi-28 – Recon Gunship / Anti-Armor (limited deployment)
Strategic Notes
- CASF operates under the principle of layered aerial denial, working closely with CTADF to enforce an integrated air defense zone (IADZ).
- During offensive operations, CASF is expected to spearhead airstrikes and support SEAD missions through coordination with ground-based artillery and CAF SOG units.
- CASF regularly participates in joint exercises with Russian VKS units, simulating interdiction and strike coordination.
Summary
CASF serves as the operational air arm of the CDF, providing critical air superiority, strike support, and mobility in regional and domestic operations. Its Soviet-era aircraft are maintained at moderate readiness levels, with improvements in ISR and EW capability under Russian advisory programs.
